22 - 26 November 2021

CURUFC is delighted to announce that the first wave of events of the 150th Anniversary Season
will take place during the week of 22nd-26th November 2021.

Three main events, the Women’s 88 Match, the Men’s Steele Bodger game, and a Celebration Dinner will be the cornerstones of the week. Additional activities, and some great hospitality deals, are also available for those who wish to come back to Cambridge and make a complete week of it.  As the Head of the Red Lion 150 Campaign team, Jeremy Macklin, said ‘It sounds like a week in Light Blue Heaven’.

Other activities

If you are planning to stay in Cambridge for the week, or a part of it, you may be interested in some of the other activities that are being planned.

Our own Tony Rodgers, a Cambridge Blue Badge Guide, has offered to put on a special tour of Cambridge, including significant places and events relevant to the development of rugby at Cambridge.

Simon Attfield (1982-84) has kindly agreed to arrange a golfing day for anyone who is staying in Cambridge and would be interested in a round with likeminded people.

There will also be the opportunity to visit Grange Road to see an exhibition of items from the Club’s archives, to look around the pavilion and visit the new Prism gym.

Our friends at Cambscuisine are offering a special rate of £100 for their rooms, with breakfast included, at The Crown and Punchbowl in Horningsea, a saving £45. Just mention Micky Steele Bodger at the point of booking. In addition you can also take advantage of their dining offers below.

Other places to stay can be found on the Visit Cambridge website.

Cambscuisine has four restaurants in town and a further four sites in the countryside around Cambridge. Details are available at www.cambscuisine.com. If having lunch or dinner at any of the Cambscuisine restaurants, and you mention Micky Steele Bodger at point of booking or at the desk on entry, your first drink will be on the house (this includes soft drinks or a bottle of wine if there are four or more of you). They have a further offer which is open to all Cambridge alumni, on production of a CAMCard, which gets a 15% discount on food on tables of up to 4 people. Tables larger than 4 receive a proportional discount (i.e. 7.5% off food for a table of 8).

If you have not got a CAMCard, it is well worth getting one before visiting Cambridge, because it also offers a number of other benefits, including access to College grounds. Further details are available here.
